Mine broke in a year and I just had this problem.
So far, so good.Dec 01, 2009 I bought this to replace a Seiko quartz "Pepsi" diver I had for years. The battery in the Seiko leaked and destroyed my watch. Imagine my surprise when I discovered Seiko does not make a quartz Pepsi diver, only automatic. I don't want to deal with the time variations of any automatic or manual any more. So off I went looking. I had settled on a Citizen Eco-Drive in the Pepsi colors but could only get it in the UK, and with the dollar being what it is, I kept looking.
I ended up with the blue Luminox 3003. I bought it for a couple of reasons. It was blue, similar to my Seiko Pepsi dial. It was roughly the same size, quartz and allegedly waterproof to 200m. It is a bit lighter than the Seiko diver though which is a plus for me.
My impressions after a day of owning it, I'll update later. Decent watch. I like that it is lite. The crown is non-locking so I hope it is 200m watertight. I like the way it looks and hope it will last a couple of years. It does not look like a bunch of money was put into it with the plactic construction. I kind of like the plastic and the lightness, but I think over time the plastic will get shiny instead of staying matte looking. The band feels fine and good quality. So far, the night glow is no better or no worse than any other watch, but it is snowing today so it has not had a real chance to charge. I wish the owners manual would specifically address the 3003 instead of all watches. Spent a while trying to get the crown to screw lock, it doesen't. Would have been nice if they listed all the models and then the feature set below each model.
So I begin my journey with a new watch, I'll update in a few months.
Luminox Men's Original Navy SEAL Dive Watch #3003Aug 24, 2009 These watches are very durable and dependable. I love the lighted dial and the scratch proof lens. Normally I do not like to wear a watch but this watch is very comfortable. If you work inside or outside it works great! Ordering from Amazon is cheaper to buy from then most sites and they are worth the money and they have a great guarantee. If it's good enough for the Navy Seals it ought to be good enough for you!
Like a Trophy Wife. Looks Good on Your Arm, but High MaintenanceAug 18, 2009 This is a good looking watch, and I got a lot of compliments while wearing it. However it is not dependable. It leaked on my first dive wearing it and had to be returned to the factory. Four months later, I finally got it back. The PVC wristband broke after three years, and now it has simply quit working. Jeweler says it will have to go back to the factory for repairs, again. I don't think so. I'm buying that Citizen Eco-drive I talked myself out of four years ago.

Finally stopped working after 7 years and hundreds of divesJan 05, 2009 Bought Luminox 3003 model (blue face) in 2001 and have worn it almost constantly for seven years for diving, hiking, biking and camping trips. Despite rough usage, never had a scratch on the watch face, never had it come off. Oriningally, the rubber strap was a bit too wide for the clasp. Trimmed it a bit. Used it for dives all over the world and never had a problem. The white numbers on the bezel are about 1/2 worn off. Took it to a dive shop in late 2008 to get the battery replaced The watch was no longer keeping time accurately (the second hand hung up.) Also wanted gasket replaced since moisture was appearing on the inside of the face. Problem was not the battery -- water infiltation into the watch. Not worth the cost to repair it vs. a buying a new one.
