2half-decent watch for telling time, but that's it (and only when it's not dark)Jun 20, 2010
i was looking for a watch that gave me a clear reading of the day/date/time, regardless of the light. i was also interested in the timer function (useful for things i do at work in the laboratory). while it's not a bad looking watch, and is light and comfortable for my small wrist (thus 2 stars and not 1), functionally it has some design flaws.

the biggest issue i have is that the minute/hour hands will interfere with your ability to see the digital display. this happens for about 15-20 minutes of every hour (imagine the minute hand in front of the LCD). then there's the whole 5 o'clock to 7 o'clock period when the hour hand is constantly in front of the LCD. a big problem if you're interested in the information presented on the LCD (i.e., everything but the time).

i think i saw this mentioned in other reviews, but the light is pretty weak. it's certainly no indiglo. if you want a watch that you can read in the dark, opt for an indiglo watch.

other issues include: kind of a pain in the neck to set the analog time (there's no traditional knob; you have to use the buttons to move through the time); figuring out how to set the time and timer and everything else is not intuitive and actually requires the manual (unlike timex watches which are very easy and even give you onscreen instructions); the numbers on the digital display are small and not so easy to read.

2Plastic casing breaksJun 18, 2010
I purchased this watch in September of 2009. Nine months later the plastic casing broke, making the velcro strap lose its point of connection. I'm not engaged in the kind of activity that it tough on a watch, so the breakage appears to me to be a problem with the material used in its construction.

4Decent watch, but . . .Jun 09, 2010
Pros:

* Appearance - the best-looking (to my tastes) combination analog and digital watch I've seen. Sized well for a small arm; case is a little thick but not too wide. Easy to read in light (see Cons about the night light).

* Buttons - easy to access, and they don't protrude from the case like Timex's do. There's not even a crown.

* Comfort - Lightweight, wears very well.

* Functions - Alarm is loud and easy to hear. Two alarms are a plus, but the screwy "snooze alarm" is definitely a con. It also has all those other functions, but I only use the timer.

* Accuracy - spot on after 48 hours, rated to +/- 30 seconds a month.

Cons:

* Setting the hands - they only go forward, not back. If it's set ahead, like mine was when I got it, you have to hold down two buttons simultaneous then watch the hands spin around until you stop them, then goose them to the right setting.

* Night light - OK if the hands are illuminated, but useless otherwise. Only illuminates sides of face.

* Velcro strap - I never have had good luck with them, they always fray or stain, so I replaced it with a water-resistant leather strap that looks great on it.

* Snooze alarm - This is just goofy. If you set it, the fool thing sounds every five minutes until you deactivate it.

* Alarm programming - Timex is way ahead of Casio on this. My old Timex digital had three alarms with weekday/weekend/daily/off options. Casio's are time only.

2Good idea---poor executionMay 18, 2010
I bought this watch as a travel watch. It was disappointing: the "light" button isn't really bright enough to let you see the display in the dark, and the digital "second" watch face is too small to read without a magnifier.

Worst of all, the function buttons are located in such a position that the mere movement of your wrist can move the digital display into a different time zone---and you then have to click the button yourself 29 times to get it back to the right one!

If I knew all this, I wouldn't have bought this watch.

5Low Cost - Nice qualityMay 03, 2010
Nice watch. Night light not the best. Timex IndaGlo much better. Light weight, hardly know I'm wearing it. For the price you can't go wrong and the brand is well known and respected.
